Here come my favorite events for non-German-speakers this month:</p>

<ul>
<li>The <a href="http://www.stuttgarter-weihnachtsmarkt.de/en/home/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em><strong>Christmas Market</strong></em></a> in Stuttgart is open <strong>until December 23. </strong>Have you ever noticed that the town hall turns into a huge Advent Calender every December? Each day, a window will be opened, showing one of the coat of arms of the districts of Stuttgart. Along with this a <a href="https://www.stuttgarter-weihnachtsmarkt.de/en/concerts/town-hall-steps/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em><strong>choir</strong></em></a> representing this quarter will perform for free on the steps in front of the entrance.<a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Stuttgart-christmas-market.jpg"><img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-7568" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Stuttgart-christmas-market.jpg" alt="" width="1024" height="768" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Stuttgart-christmas-market.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Stuttgart-christmas-market-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Stuttgart-christmas-market-768x576.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Stuttgart-christmas-market-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></li>
<li>There are SO MANY <a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/2019/11/23/christmas-markets-in-and-around-stuttgart/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em><strong>Christmas markets in the  Stuttgart region</strong> </em></a>that I have decided to introduce my favorite ones in a separate post.</li>

In order to get into the right mood and to enjoy an enchanted evening, I decided to visit the new attraction Christmas Garden in Stuttgart, located at our zoo, the Wilhelma. Read what I think about this event in the post.</p>
<p><span id="more-9893"></span></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve heard a lot about Christmas Garden in Stuttgart already and definitely wanted to visit it. Last Sunday I finally went with two friends. When you buy the tickets for Christmas Garden in Stuttgart you also have to choose an entry time. Ours was 6:00 to 7:00 pm. At first I wondered why they are so strict about this but then it made totally sense. Thanks to the different time slots it doesn&#8217;t get crowded inside! Of course there are other people there, too, but you can&#8217;t compare it to other big events like Lichterfest or Weihnachtsmarkt. It was definitely very relaxed inside.</p>
<p>They have organized a 2 km loop through Wilhelma that passes all the installations and that is easy to follow. Moreover you find food stands after every few hundred meters so you don&#8217;t have to be afraid of running out of Glühwein.</p>
<p>Here come some of my favorite light installations:</p>
<p>This one is called &#8220;Lights of Damaskus&#8221;:</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9899" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus.jpg" alt="Christmas Garden in Stuttgart Lights in Damaskus" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Lights-in-Damaskus-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>Also extremely beautiful were the shining Water Lilies in the pond:</p>

<p>I could have stood there forever and watched them float around. Luckily there is a Glühwein stand close by so at least you can enjoy a hot drink while watching 🙂</p>
<p>My personal highlight was the &#8220;Magical Giants&#8221;: illuminated Redwood trees.</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9901" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants.jpg" alt="Christmas Garden in Stuttgart Magical Giants" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9900" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2.jpg" alt="Christmas Garden in Stuttgart Magical Giants 2" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Magical-Giants-2-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>Simply stunning.</p>
<p>Of course you also find more playful installations like angels, animals or Santa&#8217;s sled for example:</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9903" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled.jpg" alt="Christmas Garden in Stuttgart Santa sled" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Santa-sled-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>Definitely something for the kids 🙂</p>
<p>Moreover there are many lovely picture opportunities. You can stand in an illuminated frame in front of a Christmas tree for example or underneath a Mistletoe:</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9904" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe.jpg" alt="Christmas Garden in Stuttgart Mistletoe" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Mistletoe-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>And there is one more thing I have to mention: the marshmallows! Oh my god, SO good! There is a stand with gourmet marshmallows. You can choose between flavors like raspberry, popcorn, vanilla, champagne and more, add cookies and real chocolate if you wish and then put it on a stick and hold it above the fire. Have I mentioned already that they are SO good?! 🙂</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9905" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1.jpg" alt="Christmas Garden in Stuttgart Marshmellows" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Christmas-Garden-in-Stuttgart-Marshmellows-1-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></p>
<p>So here is what I think about Christmas Garden in Stuttgart:</p>
<ul>
<li>I loved the relaxed atmosphere! No pushing, no yelling or anything. A visit there is suitable for families, couples or groups of friends who want to enjoy a special evening.</li>
<li>Christmas Garden in Stuttgart has more than 20 light installations and some of them were truly amazing. Even though the loop is only 2 km long, it took us nearly 2 hours to complete it because we took our time and couldn&#8217;t get enough of some of the installations.</li>
<li>The food stands we got our snacks from were great and the food and Glühwein of very good quality. As I&#8217;ve mentioned earlier, I am a huge fan of the marshmallow stand 🙂</li>
<li>What I didn&#8217;t like that much was that at some points you get really close to some of the animals. I would have assumed that they want to sleep at night-time. Well, I guess Wilhelma knows what they are doing but from my personal point of view it would have been nicer to keep a bigger distance to the animals.</li>
<li>The price is definitely something. Adults pay 17 Euro during the week and 19 on weekends or public holidays. They offer family tickets though which you should check out if you bring the kids.</li>
</ul>
<p>So altogether: When you want to spend a special evening, like light installations and appreciate a relaxed atmosphere you will enjoy visiting Christmas Garden in Stuttgart. I absolutely did 🙂</p>
<p>Have you been to Christmas Garden in Stuttgart already? What do you think about it? Was there some installation you liked in particular?</p>

<p>Stuttgartnacht is one of my favorite events in Stuttgart every year. With one ticket (18 Euro) you&#8217;ll get admission to over sixty venues like&nbsp;theatres, live clubs, cinemas, churches and more &#8211; and all await you with a special program. Of course many of the shows are offered in German but there are still a lot of venues you can visit at Stuttgartnacht 2018 if you don&#8217;t speak the language.</p>
<p>Here come my favorite places, shows and exhibitions at Stuttgartnacht 2018 for non-German-speakers:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Landtag</strong> (the parliament of Baden-Württemberg) at Schlossplatz awaits you with the <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/steely-dan-stuttgart-allstars-band" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Steely Dan Stuttgart Allstars Band</strong></em></a>. At 7 and at 9:15 pm you can enjoy a mix of Rock, Jazz, Funk and Pop in the lobby.</li>
<li>The motto of the night at <strong>Rathaus</strong> (town hall) is &#8220;Rathaus meets Bollywood!&#8221; Bollywood Blockbusters will be shown at the foyer, you can <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/foto-aktion-dress-up-like-an-indian-lady" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>get a picture of yourself wearing a Sari or Turban</strong></em></a> or let your hands turn into beautiful artworks thanks to Henna painting. Of course there will be <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/bollywood-maharaja-orchestra" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>live music</strong> </em></a>too and you can also ride the historic Paternoster, the old-fashioned elevator that never stops. <a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9827" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag.jpg" alt="Stuttgartnacht 2018" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-2-PV-Projekt-Verlag-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></li>
<li>Meet the ghosts of Stuttgart with the fun <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/ghostwalk-english-tour" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Ghostwalk tour in English</strong></em></a>. It starts at 10 pm <strong>next to the town hall</strong>, corner Schul-/Hirschstrasse</li>
<li>At <strong>Frau Blum</strong>, Stuttgart&#8217;s first and only erotic boutique, you visit a <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/burlesque-shows-mit-raunchy-rita-fanny-di-favola-und-loreen-labaffe" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Burlesque show</strong></em></a> with Raunchy Rita, Fanny Di Favola and Loreen LaBaffe. The first show starts at 7 pm and they are on every hour. Make sure to get there early as it will get crowded!</li>
<li>If you want to dive into the Indian culture, you should visit <strong>Theater am Faden</strong> and listen to traditional <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/indische-traditionals-mit-neela-bhagwat-amarendra-dhaneshwar-und-saibal-chatterjee" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Hindustani music</strong></em></a> at 7:15 and 11:15 pm and the Indian flute at 9:15 pm.</li>
<li>Inspired by Stephen Hawking&#8217;s theories the performances <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/performances-black-holes-have-no-hair" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>Black Holes have no Hair</strong></em></a> at <strong>St. Maria</strong> teach the audience all about the hairdos of black holes &#8211; and more. Sounds crazy but great to me! 🙂 The performances are on every hour, starting at 7 pm.</li>
<li>One of my favorite off-location in Stuttgart is <strong>Waggons am Nordbahnhof</strong>. The creative heads from there have put together another fun program for Stuttgartnacht 2018. Many artists open their ateliers/wagons for us and we can indulge in <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/roboter-projektion" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>robot projections</strong></em></a>, <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/live-taetowierungen" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>live tatooing</strong></em></a>, <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/grusel-gewusel-schwarzlichtspiele" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>blacklight games</strong></em></a>, <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/darbietungsabend" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>open stage performances</strong> </em></a>and more. Defenitely worth a visit!</li>
<li>If bellydance is your thing you shouldn&#8217;t miss <strong>Essential Bellydance</strong> in Bad Cannstatt. You will be able to try bellydance<a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/tribal-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong> tribal style</strong></em></a>, <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/vintage-bellydance" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>vintage style</strong></em></a>, <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/modern-bellydance" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>modern bellydance</strong></em></a> and more!</li>
<li>Listen to a <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/gipsy-swing-mit-swing-a-la-django" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>mix of American jazz, French manouche, tango, swing, chanchons and Hungarian music</strong></em></a> at the <strong>Hungarian Culture Institute</strong>.</li>
<li>Take a<a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/live-blick-ins-all" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong> look into space</strong></em></a> at <strong>Sternwarte Stuttgart</strong>.</li>
<li>Relax while having the <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/veranstaltungen/chillen-mit-panoramablick" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>best view</strong></em></a> of the town at <strong>Fernsehturm Stuttgart</strong> (<a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/2016/03/20/a-sunny-day-on-top-of-the-fernsehturm-tv-tower/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>find out more about our famous tv tower here!</em></a>)</li>
<li>Some clubs and venues offer a <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/genre/spaetschicht" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>special late night program</strong></em></a> (called Spätschicht). <a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-9829" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag.jpg" alt="Dance the night away at Stuttgartnacht 2018" width="1200" height="750" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag.jpg 1200w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag-300x188.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag-768x480.jpg 768w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Stuttgartnacht-2018-3-PV-Projekt-Verlag-150x94.jpg 150w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></a></li>
</ul>
<p>Of course the sixty venues offer much, much more than what I can point out here on the blog. For the whole program, addresses of the locations as well as show and workshop times visit: <a href="https://www.stuttgartnacht.de/faq" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em><strong>stuttgartnacht.de</strong></em></a></p>
