Quick hello and upcoming events

Hi guys! It has  been a while but next  to beeing sick, I have  been very  busy. Busy with what you may ask now. Well, Moritz and I have been packing our suitcases because our honeymoon will start – tomorrow!! 🙂
We are soooo excited! Wanna know were we are heading for ? I`ll show you:

Australia!!! Hurray!! We`re  flying from Frankfurt to Cairns tomorrow (with some stopovers of course :-D). In Cairns we’ll get a rental car and drive down to Sydney (again, with some stopovers, of course ;-))
Stay tuned the next five weeks – wait, let me say that again: the next FIVE weeks (feels so  good  saying that ;-)) – and travel down the east coast of the Land Down Under with us!

You have ten more days to visit the musical “Sister Act” in Stuttgart

Do you like musicals? I love them. At the moment, we have “Sister Act” and “Mama Mia” in Stuttgart – whereas Sister Act will leave town in ten days! So if you want to see the singing and dancing nuns, better be fast.

I went to see them with my mom lately. You find all the big musicals at Si-Centrum in Stuttgart-Möhringen. It is a big center with two musical stages, a cinema, a casino, a thermal bath called Schwabenquellen and various bars and restaurants.

As my mom and I went during the week, right after work, we didn’t have too much time to visit one of the restaurants so we chose the foodcourt for some Thai cuisine.

When we were finished, we headed over to the Stage Apollo Theater. There are two theaters at SI-Centrum, the Apollo and the Palladium where they show “Mama Mia” – don’t mix them up Zwinkerndes Smiley

Obviously they don’t let you take pictures during the show, so this is the only pic from inside the theatre Smiley

During the break you can get snacks and drinks…

P1040504

… or head outside on their terrace for some fresh air.

P1040506

I liked the show. When I was a kid, I loooooved the movie with Whoopi Goldberg. So I think it’s worth hurrying to get some of the last tickets. But don’t worry, if you miss the musical in Stuttgart, you get another chance, soon. From December on, the nuns perform in Oberhausen!

Secretary Run Stuttgart 2013

We raised 150 Euro for Brustkrebs Deutschland e.V.! Thank you very, very much for your support guys.

For all of you who are new to this blog, I participated in a charity run last Thursday called “Secretary Run”. It was a 5 km Funrun, starting at Stafflenbergstrasse and leading around Uhlandshöhe.

It was quite a small event, I think we were around 35 runners. But it was a very relaxed atmosphere and everybody was in a good mood.

We were extremely lucky with the weather. Thursday was a rather cold and rainy day in Stuttgart. But the rain stopped five minutes before we started our run and at the end, even the setting sun came out to cheer us up on our last kilometer. Smiley

Here are some impressions from the track:

From Stafflenbergstrasse, you have a lovely view over Stuttgart. I wouldn’t mind living there.. Zwinkerndes Smiley

stafflenbergstrasse.jpg

The track led through very nice residential areas. I haven’t been in this part of Stuttgart very often in the past so the run included a bit of sightseeing as well.

As I said, it was a very small event so they haven’t blocked the streets, only put up these signs… Smiley

Here we come…

… and there we go… Smiley mit geöffnetem Mund

And that’s the view we got rewarded with on the finish line… nice, hum?!

I really enjoyed participating in the Secretary Run and I will definitely be in next year, too. I only hope they manage to motivate some more runners and thus raise more money for Brustkrebs Deutschland, that would be nice.

2nd try: I’m running to fight cancer. Please support me!

Hi guys, I was fighting with technology yesterday – and I lost. Because some of you got Mails without content, I put up this post again. It’s very important for me:

On the 12th of September, I will participate in the “Secretary Run” to raise money for the breast cancer association Germany (Brustkrebs Deutschland e.V.). This run is 5 kilometers long and every Cent raised goes directly to the association.

Of course, I am working out a bit at the moment to be fit for the run. On Wednesday, I ran one of my favorite tracks in Stuttgart: From the train station through the park to Schloss Rosenstein and back again.

This is a beautiful track where you run in the shade of old trees and pass some
little streams and ponds.

And in order to convince you that I was not only promenading but truly running, here some blurry pictures from the track! :-)

Now, I’m ready for the run! If you want to support me and the breast cancer association, you have two options:

1.) Participate in the run! You can sign up until the 11th of September! Here’s the link to the registration form (which is available only in German unfortunately 🙁  ) http://www.secretary-plus.de/upload/files/secretary_run_anmeldeformular.pdf

2.) You can help me raise money. Simply check out my fund raising page (which is, again, only in German… but you will get through, I am sure! :-)  ), decide which amount you would like to contribute and fill out the form.

Supporting Alex Straub in the show “Schlagerhitparade”

I told you already that one of Moritz’ good friends is the singer Alex Straub. He performed at our wedding while my dad walked me down the aisle and made it a truly magical moment.

He also performs in the ensemble “Rififi” (their musical “The old aunts” is hilarious!! Smiley mit geöffnetem Mund!!) and – most importantly – sings his own folk music songs (Schlager). Lately, he was invited to the show “Schlagerhitparade” to participate in a contest with seven other singers. Of course, Moritz and I were there to support him.

The studio is located in Waldbronn-Neurod (yes, I haven’t heard of that town before, too Zwinkerndes Smiley ) in an old factory.

schlager_hitparade_fabrik

Quite a colorful studio, hum? Smiley But the Schnitzel they serve is really nice:

And this is the guy we came for:

Our star for the “Schlagerhitparade”: Alex Straub!

I won’t put up pictures of the show because you can check out the whole film:

http://www.baden-tv.com/artikel/Deutsche_Schlagerhitparade_vom_07_September_2

If you don’t want to listen to all songs, just fast-forward to minute 27. And if you want to see the most fascinated fan –singing and dancing to his tunes – check out minute 28:45! Smiley

The song is still haunting me… “Nimm den nächsten Flieger…!” Woooohooooo!

If you want to support Alex, too, call for him: 01379-69030005! Fingers crossed for him. He’s such a great guy and a wonderful singer. I really want him to make it to the next round.

And as faithful fans, of course we lined up after the show to get his autograph:

alex_straub1alex_straub2

And as VIP-fan, I got a picture with the man of the evening, as well Smiley

alex_straub_schlager_hitparade

And just before we were about to leave, the show master Andy Hocewar was walking around, too. So I grabbed this guy and forced him on a picture with me, too:

And now, I don’t have time for blogging anymore because I have to call for Alex!!! Smiley

Diiiiiieter Thomas Kuhn, a German singer you need to know…

Last week, I indulged my German folk music loving soul. If you ask a German under 50 about German folk music (Schlager / Volksmusik) he will look at you pitiful and tell you something about bad taste of music, nursing homes and the Kastelruther Spatzen (look that one up for yourself… Zwinkerndes Smiley). But deep inside every German hides a little hand clapping, schunkelnder devil, who only comes out once or twice a year, mostly when a beer tent, a bar on Mallorca or an après ski party is around.

The same is true for me, only that my two days of folk music happiness were due last week. There are two singers that make my like Schlager: Dieter Thomas Kuhn and Moritz’ friend Alex Straub who sang for us on our wedding.

Today, I want to introduce you to Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieter, in my next post you will meet Alex.

Since I was 13, I loooooooove Dieter Thomas Kuhn. For all of you who haven’t heard of him already (which might be most of you, if you’re not born in Baden-Württemberg… ), here some fun facts about him:

-A young singer named Dieter Kuhn created the persona (or is it his alter ego??) Dieter Thomas Kuhn in 1993.

-Dieter Thomas Kuhn performs songs from the 70s – not without adding  some interesting interpretations.

-Dieter is beautiful. No, I am not open for discussion when it comes to that. Why do you think heaps of underwear finds it’s way on stage during his concerts?

-Everybody wants Dieters chest hair. That’s just how it is.

-It is the goal of every female Dieter-Fan to be allowed on stage with her star. During every concert, a few lucky individuals get selected and are allowed to dance with Dieter, kiss him or steal some of his chest hair.

Last week, Dieter (also often referred to as Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieter, mostly with a glass breaking high intonation and screamed during concerts by his female fans) performed at the open air stage at Killesberg. Of course, me and my girl friends were there.

Before we come to the concert itself, let me talk quickly about the dress code.

When participating in a Dieter concert, you want to wear colorful cloths, maybe with floral prints, in the style of the 70s. A lot of necklaces and bracelets are advisable, too. But the most important thing: the sunflower! Dieter loves them. And we want to make Dieter happy!! Zwinkerndes Smiley

dresscode.jpg

I made a huge mistake this year: I forgot my 70s sunglasses!! That should NOT happen to you!!

Dieter concerts are a VERY strange thing. Everybody dresses colorful. And everybody is happy. Seriously. The world could be another place if we would listen to Dieter every day….

killesberg_open_air.jpg

When you check out the following impressions from the concert, make sure you listen to some Dieter songs:

Es war Sommer

dieter-thomas_kuhn5.jpg

dtk8.jpg

dtk9.jpg

dtk10.jpg

And guys, guess who left this concert as the HAPPIEST GIRL ALIVE!! Zwinkerndes Smiley

P1040693

P1040694

Yes my friends, I was rocking the stage with Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieter to “Ti Amo”.

With 30 I can say that I have reached everything I wanted in life: I married the greatest man on earth – next to Dieter- and I was on stage with Dieter. The rest of my life will be quite boring, nothing’s left to achieve…:-P

But I forgot to steal some of his chest hair!!! I was just to fascinated by his beautiful blue eyes… So maybe this is my mission for the next 30 years! Smiley mit geöffnetem Mund

killesberg_open_air2.jpg

I know, I know, Dieter’s not for everybody. But if you want to experience a piece of German culture (and that’s what it is, truly), you should visit a Dieter concert once in your life! Smiley
