In this brief overview I present my favorite events and things to do for non-German speakers this weekend in Stuttgart, on January 4 and 5.

This is your last chance to have a Glühwein on a Christmas market in Stuttgart this year: Wintertraum at Schlossplatz with its few stands and the ice rink is still open this weekend in Stuttgart.
Go sledding in downtown Stuttgart at Stadtpalais: Stuttgart im Schnee/Stuttgart covered in snow is a fun urban installation with special events and a slope for sleds that will be open this weekend in Stuttgart.
Look behind the scenes of one of Germany’s largest constructions sites at Stuttgarter Hauptbahnhof this weekend as they have Days of the Open Construction Site.
If you haven’t visited Christmas Garden at Wilhelma yet, this weekend is your last chance!
Start right into the new year by doing something for the community on Saturday: The Cleanup No21 will rid Karlshöhe from the waste that was left there after New Year’s Eve.
You like Gospel, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Pop, Motown, Soul and Blues? Then you will love the Voices of Inspiration! You can listen to their new show “The New York Experience” on January 4 at Bixx Jazzclub.
Dance to the music of Michael Jackson at JazzClub Kiste on January 4.
On January 4 you can watch La Cenerentola at the Opera House in Stuttgart, sung in Italian.
Go ice dancing at Eisdisco Waldau on Sunday!
Dance Salsa for the first time in 2020 at the Salsa Opening 2020 of Latin Dance Company Stuttgart on January 5.

2020! A brand new year. Let’s hope it will be a good one, filled with peace, health, happiness and laughter. All the Christmas themed events are over but there is still a lot going on this January in Stuttgart!

One tiny Christmas market is left until January 6 in Stuttgart: Wintertraum at Schlossplatz with its few stands and the ice rink.
Go sledding in downtown Stuttgart at Stadtpalais: Stuttgart im Schnee/Stuttgart covered in snow is a fun urban installation with special events and a slope for sleds that will be open throughout January in Stuttgart.
You like figure ice skating and the old tradition of Russian circuses? Then Circus on Ice will be your thing! You can visit the show throughout January.
Go ice dancing at Eisdisco Waldau every Sunday this January in Stuttgart!
Every Wednesday the City Library offers a free course for teens who want to improve their German skills.
In my opinion the best circus in Stuttgart: Until January 6 you have the chance to visit Weltweihnachtszirkus at Cannstatter Wasen. Fun for the young and the young at heart. The show will be held in German but you don’t need to speak the language to enjoy all the different acts.

Enjoy Swan Lake, performed by the Bolschoi Ballet Belarus, on January 3 at Liederhalle.
You might have heard and noticed that Stuttgart will get a new train station. If you’re interested in how far the work has proceeded – or if you (or you kids) love big construction sites, you should mark January 3 to 5 in your calendar as this are the days of the Open Construction Site.
Who doesn’t love the Cinderella story? On January 4 and 16 you can watch La Cenerentola at the Opera House in Stuttgart, sung in Italian.
Meet the English-speaking Writers in Stuttgart with new texts at Merlin on January 8.

This is something for all book lovers: Germany’s leading annual rare book fair, the Antiquariatsmesse Stuttgart, will be in town between January 24 and 26 at Kunstverein.
Here comes something for all fans of the Starks, the Lannisters and of course the queen of dragons: Game of Thrones live in Concert! On January 27 at Liederhalle!

Enjoy the famous show Holiday on Ice this weekend, on January 26 and 27 in Stuttgart at Porsche Arena.
Watch the show Grande Revue this weekend at Friedrichsbau Variete and get enchanted.
Fine whisky, rum, gin, tequila, wine and beer await you at the fair 0177 Spirits between January 26 and 27 in Stuttgart at Phoenixhalle.
Start into the weekend with a fun run and join Kräherwald parkrun on January 26.
You like craft beer and are open for something new? Then you shouldn’t miss the Bulgarian Craft Beer Tasting at Imperia Magazin on January 26.
And one more tasting: Try old whisky at Old & Rare Whisky Tasting at Schwarz-Weiß-Bar on January 26. No drink is younger than 25 years.
There will be a fun Salsa party at Stadtpalais on January 26.
If you like gospel music you don’t want to miss The Original USA Gospel Singers & Band on January 26 at Liederhalle.
You bring some of your used cloths and take home some others – that’s what’s happening at a cloths exchange party. The next one will take place at Club Zentral on January 27.

Get inspired for your next holiday at CMT 2019!

I don’t know how it is for you but January is the time of year where Moritz and I start planning our holidays. And as every year, we visit the fair CMT 2019 at Messe Stuttgart to get some inspiration for our next trip(s)!

The holiday exhibition CMT is THE world’s largest consumer show for tourism and leisure – and it is taking place in Stuttgart RIGHT NOW! Yeah, I also wonder why you’re not there already ;-P

I love CMT for two main reasons:

At CMT 2019 you meet representatives from over 100 countries. So you have the chance to learn about places you’ve probably never heard about before. Moreover, at some of the stands you can book special holiday fair offers!
If you think about buying a camper van or mobile home, CMT 2019 is the right place to go look for one! You will find over 1,000 campers and uncountable camping equipment in the halls 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9. And pssst: Even if you don’t plan to buy a camper van, having a look inside different models is so much fun!! 😀

One of my personal highlights this year: there will be tiny houses on display the coming weekend in hall 10! How cool is that?!

But not only tiny houses await you this weekend at CMT 2019. There will also be a special exhibition about wellness trips and cruises.

Oh and one last tip: Buy your ticket online and in advance. Not only does this save you time and money, you can even use it as a ticket for the public transport in Stuttgart! S 2 and S 3 stop right at the fair, the station is called Flughafen/Messe. You can plan your trip here.

Enjoy the ballet The Nutcracker on January 5 at Liederhalle.
Gospel, Soul, Funk, Jazz, R&B, Pop, Motown… you name it, V.O.I. – Voices Of Inspiration performs it – at Jazzclub Bix on January 5 at The New York Experience. This year, the former Weather Girls-singer Ingrid Arthur is part of the team.
The first Salsa Party at Cafe am Nil will be celebrated on January 5.
If you like to go ice dancing you should visit Eisdisco at Waldau on January 6.
Alfhoff Hotel am Schlosspark awaits you with a special brunch buffet on January 6: at Bowls & Bubbles you can enjoy bubbly champagne and a flying buffet, served in bowls.

In my opinion the best circus in Stuttgart: Until January 6 you have the chance to visit Weltweihnachtszirkus at Cannstatter Wasen.
