I recently discovered the most colorful cafe I’ve ever been to: Riceteria Stuttgart. Everything looked so cute and cheerful – and the food was amazing!

Riceteria Stuttgart is located above Schulstrasse. And I literally mean “above”. Did you know Schulstrasse actually has two floors? The entrance to Riceteria Stuttgart is located on the second one. You have to take the stairs next to the shop Korbmayer in order to get there. I think that’s why I’ve never recognized this lovely place before.

I think that’s why I’ve never recognized this lovely place before.

When you enter Riceteria Stuttgart you feel like you’ve stepped into a sparkling rainbow. You’re surrounded by colors!

Riceteria is actually a combined cafe and shop. That’s why it is stuffed with all sort of colorful products from RICE, a Danish homeware and accessories company. And I have to say, the concept works – I saw customers that bought some of the colorful products, saw the food menu and decided to stay for lunch. Or the other way round: customers that came in for a cup of coffee and left with a bag of gifts for their loved ones 🙂

At first, I didn’t expect much of the food. In the end, it’s a franchise store, they don’t really care for good quality, right? Well, I found out that at Riceteria, they do! I was there several times within the last weeks and everything I’ve tried so far was amazing. At first I just had a hot chocolate with marshmallows and a waffle. The next time I tried their soup. And on my third visit I went for the salad (unfortunately unpictured). Everything was sooooo good!!!

On their menu I saw that they also offer afternoon tea! Definitely something I have to try very soon! 🙂

During summer you can even sit outside on one of their colorful tables. In winter cozy couches and tables await you.

Hi guys! Have you visited the new shopping district Dorotheenquartier (DOQU) yet? It is located between Karls- and Marktplatz and next to new, interesting shops (my favorite: Rivièra Maison for Dutch home decor!) you also find some new, interesting restaurants there. One of them is Oh Julia, (never mind the comma… it’s not a spelling mistake but part of their name! :-D)

Oh Julia, is a small restaurant chain with locations in Mannheim, Munich and now: Stuttgart. According to the founder, its goal is to provide authentic and fresh Italian food and to spead the Mediterranian lifestyle.

Oh Julia, is a small restaurant chain with locations in Mannheim, Munich and now: Stuttgart. According to the founder, its goal is to provide authentic and fresh Italian food and to spead the Mediterranian lifestyle.

The decor of the restaurant at DOQU is modern and industrial. You have the choice between self service and beeing served (if you want to be served, look for the sign that indicates the area where you want to sit down). When I was there, I chose self service and thus lined up at the bar.

They have a good selection of antipasti (that will even satisfy vegetarians like me :-)) and of course pizza and pasta. But meat and fish lovers will also find a dish to their liking as Oh Julia, also serves burgers, fish, chicken, sausage and more.

Oh, and don’t forget to check out their desserts! I can recommend the lemon tart! 🙂

When you order at the bar, you get a pager. You will have to put the pager on the designated spots on your table so that the waiter can find you and serve you your food.

For drinks, you have to line up at the second bar. That’s a bit confusing at the beginning and actually time consuming but that’s how it is.

I like the open atmosphere at Oh Julia, so it became a place where I go for lunch every now and then. Their prices are standard for locations in the city center I think and the quality of the food is decent. It’s definitely nothing for a fancy night out but a good choice for a casual lunch or dinner.

Hi guys! Today I would like to introduce you to a cafe, that is beloved by the locals but still a hidden gem to most visitors: Café KönigX in the middle of Bohnenviertel in the city center.

Café KönigX has been around for more than thirty years and it is thus an institution here in Stuttgart. It opened in the 8os – when there was no such thing as a sophisticated coffee culture in Stuttgart – and has been around ever since. It moved locations once and you can find it now at Wagnerstraße 26, next to a little playground. My dad used to come here when he was younger and still worked in Stuttgart. And nowadays, I meet my godfather there once a month for lunch. As you can see, our family history is woven into this place. 🙂

Café KönigX: What to order?

At KönigX you find high quality food and drinks. Everything’s organic and the cakes are made by the owner herself. I love their quiches for lunch. They come with a small side salad and are very yummy 🙂 When I don’t feel like coffee I have birch water. Try it! So good! And I always order a piece of cake after lunch. Delicious. Believe me 🙂

Café KönigX: What makes this place special?

When it’s warm outside, I love to sit on one of the small, painted (as you can see in the picture above) bistro tables on the sidewalk right outside the café. Or on the wall on the other side of the street, in front of the playground. They put pillows on it and wooden boards that serve as tables. And as you have the playground right next to you, Café KönigX is a great location for families! 😉

You can feel that this place is operated with a big portion of enthusiasm and the same amount of personal engagement. Everybody is so lovely and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. You feel at home right away.

When you visit café KönigX, note the lovely paintings on the wall: They change frequently and are all made by one of the former co-owners who used to work as a decorator and painter of cinema posters. They are all painted directly on cardboard. Quite charming and unique 🙂

Moreover, don’t miss these two ladies:

The one in black was found in the street in front of the entrance one day. The owner took her in and put her on display, hoping that the girl who the Barbie belonged to would come one day and pick her up. That never happend so the doll is living at café KönigX now for good – and she even found a friend! Have a close look when you’re there. Do the two dolls look familiar to you and remind you on someone (behind the counter – wink, wink!)? 😉

So when you feel like visiting a true institution, make your way to Bohnenviertel and check out café KönigX. You will love it, I promise 🙂

Don’t be fooled by the short menu. At L.A. Signorina it’s quality and not quantity that matters. They might only offer a small selection of pizzas (and no pasta, by the way!) but the ones they offer are truly extraordinary. Ever tried avocado on a pizza? Or a white topping? Well, I didn’t until I visited L.A. Signorina this week!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1462/26471279081_2449aed415_z.jpg" alt="L.A. So here is what my friends Rachel (from rachelsanghee.com), Meredith (from www.kaffeeundkuchen.co/ and I indulged in:

The FOUNTAIN: crème fraîche, chicory, roquefort cheese, walnuts and peppercress:

The TRAVI: tomato sauce, fior di latte, bresaola, colorful carrots and parsley:

And the PRIVATO D ́AMORE L.: tomato sauce, crawfish, avocado and grapefruit oil:

The menu changes four times a year so you will always find new seasonal toppings. But I’m not sure if I can wait until summer before I come back for more…! So guys, if you’re looking for extremely yummy and somewhat special pizza in Stuttgart, L.A. Signorina is your new favorite restaurant.

And the day after that… Well, if you’re in need of a place for a nice breakfast or lunch in order to hide while it’s raining cats and dogs, you should try Academie der schönsten Künste at Charlottenplatz!

This place has been around since the 70s – in those days it was known as “Bernd’s Lädle”. Ever since it has been an institution when it comes to French style breakfast and a cozy atmosphere. Even today, artists, students, business people, and freelancers meet at Academie der schönsten Künste.

Recently, I met my friend Julia there for lunch and I wanted to share my fond feelings for this place with you guys. Let’s have a look inside:

You fall in love with Academie der schönsten Künste right when you enter. Look at all the artwork on the walls and the ceiling! My favorite is the mermaid/fishbone that is hanging from the wall in the center!

In addition to all the art, they also offer a nice lunch menu. It comes with a side salad…

… a main course (of course ) – in my case pancakes stuffed with mushrooms:

… and a dessert! Hmmmmmm, yummy.

In summer you can also sit outside, at the back of the building. But I have to admit, I prefer sitting inside, in between all the paintings. Makes me feel like a little bit of an artist myself

Hi guys! here are you enjoying the sun these days? I found a new, sunny place for my lunch breaks: Weltcafe in the Planie building, next to the U-Bahn station Charlottenplatz.

It is next to the “Welcome Center” which might interest those of you, too, that have moved to Stuttgart recently and would need some support here and there. They have a migration advisory service, a job center, a youth and family counseling center and more. But back Weltcafe …

It is next to the “Welcome Center” which might interest those of you, too, that have moved to Stuttgart recently and would need some support here and there. They have a migration advisory service, a job center, a youth and family counseling center and more. But back Weltcafe .

You can sit inside, on colorful chairs, underneath the colorful ceiling…

or outside, in the backyard. And that’s exactly the place my friend and I chose!

It’s really nice there, very quiet and – depending on the weather of course – sunny.

When it comes to the food front, mind that the selection at Weltcafe is not too big. They offer some different kinds of Quiche Lorraine, soups and other smaller snacks. And cakes! I tried a vegetarian quiche…

…which was a bit small but very nice. In the end , I didn’t mind the size because it was a great excuse to try their brownies!

Yep, very nice, too. And after this one, I was definitely not hungry anymore!

Weltcafe is open from 10 am to 10 pm, apart from Sundays where they close at 8 pm. And they are closes completely on Wednesdays.

Morever, I just found out that they organize special events from time to time, too. I think I have to come back in the evening again!

For the regular entrance fee, you can visit several indoor and outdoor pools with different water temperatures, four saunas and two steam baths at Mineral Spa Böblingen. You can even purchase a ticket for the “sauna garden”, a huge area, where you will find six additional saunas. I actually never went there because I hardly get to use all the pools and stuff that come with the regular ticket.

I love being in the spa, floating in the warm water and visiting the saunas… You just feel soooo deeply relaxed afterwards.

At the end, half an hour before I had to leave, I sat down in one of the deck chairs and nearly fell asleep

A great way to spend a rainy day!
