<h2>English speaking courses at vhs Stuttgart &#8211; my personal highlights</h2>

<h3>Swabian Humor for Beginners (April 11, 2019)</h3>
<p>This is a course I am looking forward to in particular. I know that most people think Germans don&#8217;t get the concept of humor. And this prejudice is even worse when it comes to us Swabians 🙂 But this course will proof them all wrong. The event will be held by Christiane M., trainer and comedian, who will introduce you to odd habits and the hidden humor of an ancient funny German culture.</p>

<p>This is another course I can&#8217;t wait to join. It offers you a practical guide to grow by learning lessons taught by drag queens. You will learn five keys to channel your inner queen: creating the person you always wanted to be, power dressing and -posing, how to quiet inner and outer critics and why it&#8217;s important to start taking small risks to boost yourself to taking even bigger ones. Shouldn&#8217;t we all be a bit more drag?!</p>

<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1588" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga1.jpg" alt="View from the exit of the U-Bahn station over to the tower at Höhenpark Killesberg" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga1.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga1-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Even the walk from the station through the park is very nice by itself:</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1586" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen.jpg" alt="Statue at the Valley of the roses / Tal der Rosen, Killesberg, Stuttgart" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Can you guess why this place is called Valley of the Roses? 😉 And it&#8217;s just the season for them, they are blooming everywhere. So beautiful!</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1587" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen2.jpg" alt="Tal der Rosen / Valley of the Roses, Killesberg, Stuttgart" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen2.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_tal_der_rosen2-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1589" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga2.jpg" alt="Waiting for the yoga class at Killesberg to begin" width="500" height="365" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga2.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga2-300x219.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga2-619x452.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>We found a space under a huge tree where there was enough shade to provide shelter for about 50 (!!) people. And then the course started. I liked the teacher very much. She had a relaxing voice and led through the different poses very smoothly.</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga6.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1593" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga6.jpg" alt="Yoga teacher at Killesberg" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga6.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga6-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga6-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Yoga under the open sky feels sooooo different to yoga at a studio. You smell the grass, feel a cool breeze on your skin sometimes and the ground is so soft.</p>

<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga7.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1594" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga7.jpg" alt="Yoga at &quot;Sport im Park&quot; at Killesberg, Stuttgart" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga7.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga7-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga7-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>I really enjoyed it.</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga3.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1590" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga3.jpg" alt="Downward dog at Killesberg Park" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga3.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga3-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga3-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>That&#8217;s what you see while doing the downward dog. Better than the white sealing of a yoga studio, isn&#8217;t it?! 😉</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga4.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1591" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga4.jpg" alt="&quot;Sport im Park&quot;, Killesberg" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga4.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga4-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/killesberg_yoga4-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Even though we were quite a big group, the lesson was very relaxing. Everybody had enough space for him- or herself.</p>
<p>After a bit more than one hour, the class was finished. Some people stayed on their mats afterwards but my friends and I decided to head over to the &#8220;<em>Höhencafe</em>&#8220;, a little restaurant which is overlooking the <em>Tal der Rosen</em>.</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg1.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1598" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg1.jpg" alt="Höhencafe Killesberg" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg1.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg1-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg1-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Up there, you have a very nice view; over the park and all the way to the <em>Fernsehturm</em> (tv tower).</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg2.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1599" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg2.jpg" alt="View from Höhencafe Killesberg" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg2.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg2-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg2-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>Next to the view, the food is really nice, too! 🙂</p>
<p>I had <em>Flädle</em> (pancake) with goats cheese&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_flaedle.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1596" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_flaedle.jpg" alt="Flädle with goats cheese" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_flaedle.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_flaedle-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_flaedle-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>&#8230; and my friends ordered <em>Apfelstrudel</em> (apple strudel)&#8230;</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_apfelstrudel.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1595" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_apfelstrudel.jpg" alt="apple strudel" width="500" height="348" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_apfelstrudel.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_apfelstrudel-300x209.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_apfelstrudel-619x432.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>&#8230; and <em>Maultaschen</em> (Swabian ravioli):</p>
<p><a href="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_maultaschen.jpg"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1597" src="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_maultaschen.jpg" alt="Maultaschen" width="500" height="375" srcset="https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_maultaschen.jpg 700w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_maultaschen-300x225.jpg 300w, https://living-in-stuttgart.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/hoehencafe_killesberg_maultaschen-619x464.jpg 619w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a></p>
<p>We sat there, enjoyed the yummy food and watched the sun turning the tv tower pink.</p>
<p>What a lovely evening!</p>

<p>Free Yoga classes and the other courses are provided by<em> Stuttgarter Amt für Sport und Bewegung</em> in&nbsp;cooperation&nbsp;with <em>Sportkreis Stuttgart</em>, <em>SportCodex</em> and some sport clubs. The classes will be held under good weather conditions until the end of September. The directions are given in German. If you don&#8217;t speak German, talk to the instructor at the beginning, so he or she can advise you, have a special eye on you and switch to English when needed.</p>
