Events this March in Stuttgart

Spring is coming! Even though we have some more cold days ahead of us, March marks the beginning of the new season. And I loooove spring (well, who doesn’t?! :-D). And this month is also a highlight, event-wise. Here come my favorite things to do this March in Stuttgart.

  • If you haven’t had the chance to see the play Half broke horse by Jeannette Walls yet: It will be performed in English at Altes Schauspielhaus on March 1 and 2.
  • You like wine? Then the After-Work-Wineparty at Wein-Musketier in Degerloch on March 1 might be your thing. Next to a great selection of wines, tartes will await you.
  • Running with other people from Stuttgart and supporting animal welfare at the same time? That’s possible at Good-Night-Run (Gutenachtlauf) on March 2! Running under a full moon is a special experience you won’t forget.
  • You feel that deep down inside you’re a rapper? Then get on the stage at Rap am Mittwoch (rap on Wednesday) at Im Wizemann and flash the crowd! Everyone can participate on March 3.
  • Don’t miss the chance to see a gem of comedy ballet: La fille mal gardee tells the story of Lise, a country girl, who falls in love with farmer Colas. But her mother has different plans… This lovely piece of art is performed on March 3, 7, 8, 10, 17, 26 at the opera house in Stuttgart.
  • A tribute to Joe Cocker will be celebrated on March 4 at Im Wizemann. Former members of his band came together to form Mad Dogs Unchained.
  • You love to brunch? Then visit Brunch global at Bürgerzentrum West on March 4! Enjoy Tunisian, Polish, Turkish and Mongolian food and an international accompanying program.
  • How about listening to a true love story between a freelance writer from New York and a used-book dealer from London in English? You can do so on March 5 at Merlin. 84 Charing Cross Road is based on twenty years of correspondence between two continents.
  • Enjoy French cinema in French at Jour fixe du cinéma français. This month Institut français Stuttgart will be showing La Ch’tite famille at Delphi cinema on March 7.
  • Café Künsterbund organizes a Beertasting on March 8. Try beer from the brewery Schönbuch Braumanufaktur, accompanyed by a Mediterranian five-course menu.
  • An event I really love is Stuttgart painted in Sand (Stuttgart in Sand gemalt). It is magical to watch artist Anna Telbukh painting well known places from all around Stuttgart in Sand while listening to atmospheric music. The show is back on March 11 at Liederhalle.
  • This year, Eastern falls on April 1. Starting on March 12 everybody who want’s to experience the Christian tradition in a very special setting can visit Ostergarten in Stuttgart-Sommerrain. Visitors will step into a re-built Jerusalem.
  • You want to improve your German? Then visit Spielend Deutsch lernen at Stadtbibliothek on March 13. This playful approach to learning will make you pick up new vocabularies without even noticing it.
  • Shop for international furniture, fashion and jewelry at the fair Blickfang between March 16 and 18.  250 designers await you!

  • Learn all about ghosts in Stuttgart at the tour Ghostwalk on March 16.
  • Long Night of Museums (Lange Nacht der Museen) is one of my favorite events  – and it is on this March in Stuttgart on the 17th! This year you have the chance to visit more than 80 museums, galleries and other great places with only one ticket!
  • You have a lot of cloths that don’t fit anymore? How about exchanging them? On March 17 there is a huge cloths-exchange-party (Kleidertauschparty) at Volkshochschule where you can get rid of stuff you don’t like anymore and take home the one or other new part.
  • A book club especially for women who want to improve their German is Frauenlesekreis at Stadtteilbücherei Feuerbach. Their next meeting is on March 24.
  • Welcome spring 2018 with Gospel im Osten, Stuttgart’s biggest gospel choir, on March 24 at Friedenskirche.
  • Enjoy sound tracks from big movies in a very special setting: The white room of Neues Schloss is usually not open to the public but the concert Fabelhafte Welt der Filmmusik will be performed just there on March 24.
  • An event that every foodies has to visit: kulinart is a food fair in Bad Cannstatt. It is held at Rümerkastell on March 24 and 25.

  • Last but not least: Enjoy the warm weather and sunshine and go hiking! My favorite hike in spring is located at the beginning of the black forest. It leads through a fairytale-like forest, along meadows speckled with crocuses, to the ruins of castle Zavelstein. Read more about this beautiful hike in one of my former posts.
