Events this January in Stuttgart

After the turbulent days of Christmas and New Year’s Eve we’re usually looking forward to some more peaceful and quiet moments. But on the other hand, now we have time again for fun events and things to do! Check out what’s going on this January in Stuttgart!

  • The Weltweihnachtszirkus is in town until January 7. Enjoy world-class acts from the famous Circus Knie, the Chinese State Circus, the Circus Festival Monte Carlo and many more.
  • Start into the new year with a classic concert at Liederhalle on January 1. The Neujahrskonzert, performed by the Stuttgarter Saloniker, combines something for everybody: classical music, waltz,  jazz, swing, latin… 
  • How about starting into 2018 with a new hobby? You can join the International Choir of Schauspielhaus Stuttgart on January 2. They meet every Tuesday at 5 pm in the foyer of the Schauspielhaus and sing on German and one international song together. A great way to meet new people!
  • Another great way to sing, meet new people and have lot’s of fun is the Karaoke Party at Biddy Early’s Irish Pub. It is on every Wednesday and on January 3 for the first time in 2018.
  • You want to watch a French movie in the original version? Do so on January 3 at Delphi Arthaus Kino. This month’s Jour fixe du cinéma français presents “Le Sens de la fête”, a fun movie about a wedding planner.
  • If you like art, you might love áMirò by the dance company Flamencos en route. The choreography brings Miro’s paintings to life. You can enjoy the show at Theaterhaus between January 4 and 14 (no shows on January 8 and 9 though).
  • A special show awaits you at Planetarium Stuttgart on January 5 (and every other Friday): the Fulldome-Music-Show Lichtmond – Universe of Light takes you on a trip through our universe, accompagnied by epic music.
  • If you like handball you might want to watch Germany vs Island at Porsche-Arena on January 5.
  • Fun for the young and the young at heart: Ice Disco at Eiswelt Stuttgart on January 7 (and every other Sunday throughout winter).
  • The collective Writers in Stuttgart presents new English texts under the title RISK on January 8 at Merlin.
  • You want to learn more about ghosts in Stuttgart? Than join the Ghostwalk on January 12. This fun tour in English language leads you to the Old Palace, the Market Hall and the Colligiate Church and tells you about eerie encounters with spooky monks, a headless horseman and two shadowy figures, who still can be seen at dawn.
  • Women who want to practice their German language skills can visit the Frauenlesekreis at Stadtteilbücherei Feuerbach on January 13. The group reads texts and talks about the content afterwards. Participants should possess basic German skills.
  • You will get married soon and are in need for some inspiration? Then you should visit the wedding fair Trau Dich! at Liederhalle on January 13 and 14.
  • Where will 2018 take you? If you can’t answer this question yet, you should visit the holiday exhibition CMT at Messe Stuttgart between January 13 and 21! Definitely THE place for vacation related inspiration! If you want to know what this fair is about, check out my former posts about the CMT 2013 and 2014. Definitely one of my favorite events this January in Stuttgart!
  • If you like gymnastics and sport, the TurnGala on January 14 at Porsche-Arena will blow your mind. This year’s title: Kaleidoscope.
  • The North America film festival INDIANER INUIT is in Stuttgart between January 18 and 21. The festival present films that provide insight into the present and past oft the indigenous people in North America.
  • Holiday on Ice “Atlantis” is a fun event for the whole family. The show is in Stuttgart between January 25 and 28 at Porsche-Arena.
  • 0711 Spirits is THE fair in Stuttgart for lovers of whisky, gin, rum but also beer and wine. Try something new or shop for beloved beverages at Römerkastall between January 26 and 28.
  • Have you ever visited a stuffed puppet theater as an adult? You should! Babylon, a play about refugees trying to get to Europe, is performed in English as part of the Imaginale festival at Fitz theater.
  • A little bit of Hollywood and Las Vegas can be experienced in Stuttgart on January 27 when The Frank Sinatra Show stops at Liederhalle.
  • Another wedding fair: at Fest Versprochen you can experience new wedding trends as well as wedding related products and services on January 28, all combined under the roof of Im Wizemann.
  • And if all this is too much for you and you’re longing for peace and relaxation, there are still a bunch of wonderful spas where you can relax this January in Stuttgart!
